"The snow numbed my face as I skied into the wind. The cold penetrated and I felt the pain deep. I stopped to gasp for breath — and then I got the photograph." Kent Gunnufson has spent a lifetime with a camera in hand, to bring back something special to show and document.
Kent Gunnufson is a photographer, documentary filmmaker, educator, and publisher who has spent more than four decades documenting life in the Colorado Rockies. He founded SnowStorm Publications in 1981 and launched Mountain Magazine in 1994 as a celebration of the people, places, arts, and adventures that define high-country living.
His award-winning films — including Bumming Colorado's Ski Country, Grandma Builds an Earthship, American Super Logger, and A Woman Ranching the Rockies — have screened at festivals from Breckenridge to Houston, earning Platinum Remi Awards, Best Documentary honors, and a place in Banff's Mountain Film World Tour. His still photography and films have been exhibited worldwide.
