Welcome to the

Arvada Rotary Club Clinics

Jack and Peg Emery are getting ready for their next clinic at 8,000 foot high community of Guachochi, Mexico. I went along and made a documentary called Medical Flights to Sierra Madre. They go in late spring and winter. They typically fly in for a four day weekend and if they drive the trip it could take a week or more. Everyone pays their own expenses and chips in for gas.

When flying, the trips start Thursday morning at 5AM and takeoff from 6 to 7AM at S. Jeffco Airport. That will put you in Guachochi in the afternoon. After getting situated in your hotel room, there is usually a get-together party that night. The next day the clinic begins after breakfast. Another party after work...and that could start anytime from 7 to 8 PM. Another clinic starts on Saturday. However the second day's clinic could be out of town at a reservation or not. Each trip is different. Guess what...a trip out of town means getting back later. Don't worry, there should be another party to make up for all the long hours of work. Then it's up early Sunday morning for the trip back.

Give Peg or Jack a call at (303) 238-9346 if you are interested in going. They really need pilots (with planes) and opticians. The number of planes range from three to seven.

Peg promised me she would post more news about each trip here in the future. Until then check out the adventure I had one winter, Survival at Sierra Madre. This was one of my most memorable experiences... truly unbelievable but it happened just as it's written!
