Visions High-country imagery is beautiful, but ironically may be the most difficult to be considered as art by the art community. Most mountain images are usually relegated to "alpine", "sport", or "documentary" efforts. This can be attributed to the difficulty of the photographer to add something to improve or "interpret" the powerful high-country image. Similarly the phrase "postcard picture" is construed beautiful by the general population yet boring from the perspective of the artisan. Hence most fine art photography utilizes low interest subjects within an unrushed and safe environment to facilitate the creation of art through interpretative composition. Taking alpine photography to a higher level presents a difficult task. The recognition of working in physically limiting, life-threatening, and time limiting situations are often overlooked. Those seeking the challenge of taking the mountain environment to a high visual level will find a home at Mountain Magazine.
