Submissions

Among the peaks and valleys is a mother-lode of stories. Just as the environment is unique, extreme and majestic, so are the lives here. Mountain Magazine documents these stories and archives them on its web-site and half-hour TV show. In this series, I’ve brought together the creative Rocky Mountain community …writers, photographers, musicians, film producers…to tell the mountain’s story. Mountain Magazine has already appeared on KDBI in Denver..

Call for Submissions:

Articles, Slideshows, and Video Segments

Submissions are for potential use on our Web site and video will also be considered for our future TV series. Short illustrated articles are preferred. Segments can be any length, but those conforming to our format will have a higher priority. Programs will have one to three segments per show. Longer segments need to have a corresponding greater interest. Segments lengths are suggested as 7 minutes, 15 minutes or 23 minutes. Segments need to be self-explanatory and pertain to the mountains or mountain life.  Content has to represent a personal view or perspective. An example would be that a segment totally about a sports event with commentary wouldn’t fit our programming needs unless it includes an interview or is told from a personal view. Streaming examples are at: http://www.mountainmagazine.com/film/videoprofiles.htm. Programs promoting mountain arts, environment, and sports takes highest preference. Previews need only be VHS, do not send original masters. Tapes and disks not returned. Mail to SnowStorm Productions, ATT: Kent Gunnufson, P.O. Box 4055, Breckenridge, CO 80424. Queries can be sent to MM's editor.

Word files, jpeg, and DV are the preferred formats. DVCAM, ¾ SP, Hi-8, and SVHS are also accepted.  Analog formats require bars and tone to assure correct color and NTSC broadcast levels. Program releases are required.

This is a grassroots community program targeted for public television and segment compensation will be available as sponsorship funding  allows it.  In time, revenues will increase along with production values and salaries. Early supporters will be securing their place in Mountain Magazine’s future.
